Cannabinoids are compounds found in cannabis and hemp plants that interact with the body's Endocannabinoid System, influencing various physiological and cognitive processes. The most well-known cannabinoids are THC and CBD, each with its own effects. Cannabis Sativa is the primary source of cannabinoids, but they can also be found in other plants. Phytocannabinoids come from plants, while endocannabinoids are produced by the human body, and synthetic cannabinoids are created in a lab. Cannabinoids interact with receptors in the body to regulate functions like inflammation, pain, mood, and memory, making them useful for medical conditions.
There are a lot of cannabinoids. Today we are going to describe the most commonly known: CBD, a non-psychotropic cannabinoid, and THC, a psychotropic cannabinoid. THC and CBD offer a range of benefits. THC, the psychoactive component, can provide pain relief, reduce nausea, relax muscles, stimulate appetite and aid sleep. CBD, non-psychoactive, can reduce anxiety, help with epilepsy/seizures, alleviate inflammation and pain, protect brain health and benefit skin conditions.
